I vividly remember finding my friend in the driveway standing by her car after her 1st doctor’s appt for the new baby. She had already sent me a text to say that all was fine….so why was she here? Was something wrong? She walked to the door with a whole new world in her hands. It was a picture – the sonogram shot…”Do you see that, Leah??” All I saw was a little peanut in a sea of black. Then she pointed it out. There to the side was a 2nd peanut. “TWO!!! TWO!!!” I screamed and it set in that she had some double love in her belly.
The next days, weeks, months were spent on walks with our 1st-borns, discussing the future – what would it be like? phone calls (lots of them), hanging out…eating 🙂 and of course constant texting – my favorite was probably 2 days before the C-section…”GET THEM OUT!! GET THEM OUT!!” yep, mama was ready. and can you believe she went 38 weeks and produced babies weighing a total of 14 pounds??
What an honor to have her as a friend. What an incredible journey that I got to be a part of. She was perfect through everything – honest and loving…I’m so proud of you E. Thank you for my “all access” pass on delivery day and for a friendship that means more to me than you’ll ever know. Oh gosh, I just made myself cry. enough!
and now, my “birth photography” debut….here are some of my favorites. We begin with more waiting.
just before and just after…holy moly, they’re here!!
fresh babies and a big sis!!
family visits and twinkie comparisons. yes, they are identical. these sweet boys have more family than most and were admired in abundance.
and in closing. I’m finally at a loss for words…the emotion speaks for itself. love.
Even though this was my 1st “Birth Story”…I rather enjoyed it. Not just because I feel like these twins are my own, but the raw quality…the emotional purity. It was liberating. Maybe something I will pursue in the future. Any takers??
